UTRECHT, Holland (April 10, 2014) — Former Goodyear senior vice president Arthur de Bok has been appointed the new CEO and chairman of the management board of medical device firm Mediq BV.
The company's supervisory board said the appointment took effect April 1.
Mr. de Bok, who also is the former president of Goodyear's Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) business unit, left the tire maker in March. According to Mediq, his career has included executive positions with Procter & Gamble.
The company said Mr. de Bok “will use his international business expertise to strengthen Mediq's position as an international service provider in the healthcare market.”
Rob ter Haar, chairman of the supervisory board, said the company, board and management team “are enthusiastic about Arthur de Bok taking up this position. The healthcare field is continually developing and Mediq is a key international player in it.
“We are convinced that Arthur, with his extensive experience, is the right person to help Mediq respond to this development and extend Mediq's lead in this field.”
According to its website, Mediq is an international company delivering medical devices, pharmaceuticals and the related care services. The firm operates through three channels: homecare; via professional customers such as hospitals, nursing homes, general practitioners and pharmacies (institutional); and via Mediq pharmacies. The company has approximately 8,300 employees in 15 countries.
Mr. de Bok joined Goodyear in 2002 as vice president, sales and marketing, for consumer tires in Europe and was promoted to the EMEA unit helm in 2008. Earlier this year he and Goodyear negotiated an “employment cessation agreement,” according to a Goodyear filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. He became an “at-will” employee with Goodyear at the end of February.
