GREAT BEND, Kan. (April 9, 2014) — The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has scheduled a hands-on Basic Farm Tire Service (FTS) training class in Great Bend Aug. 4-6.
Sponsored by Becker Tire Treading & Automotive Service in Great Bend, the class will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on each of the three days, TIA said.
Basic FTS is a minimum-skills training and certificate program that outlines and explains the guidelines for servicing farm, agriculture and construction tire and wheel assemblies, according to TIA. Participants will learn step-by-step procedures for demounting, mounting and inflating single, dual and three-piece wheel assemblies.
Service truck operation and liquid ballast installation and removal are also on the agenda.
Tuition is $495 per student for one or two attendees from one company. Companies that send three or more students will get a reduced tuition rate of $445 per student. Attendees who successfully complete the course will receive Certificates of Completion.
