FORT MILL, S.C. (April 1, 2014) — Continental Tire the Americas L.L.C. has launched the TrueContact all-season touring performance tire that it said combines best-in-class wet braking with the tire maker's EcoPlus technology.
The tire comes in a range of sizes in wheel diameters ranging from 15 to 19 inches and comprising T-, H- and V-rated SKUs. It also includes a 60-day trial period, a 72-month manufacturer's limited warranty program and up to a 90,000-mile limited treadwear warranty.
Conti said the EcoPlus technology provides long wear and can save consumers up to $450 over the life of the tire when compared to competitors' products. Actual savings vary based on driving techniques, road conditions, tire maintenance and replacement interval, the company noted.
In addition, the tire maker pitted its TrueContact in size 215/60R16 95T in an internal wet braking test against the Bridgestone Ecopia PE422 in size P215/60R16 94H, Michelin Defender in size 215/60R16 95T and Pirelli P4 Four Season in size 215/60R16 95T. Conti claimed the TrueContact is capable of stopping up to 30 feet shorter than leading competitors.
Other features of the tire include Conti's Alignment Verification System, which it said provides:
- An early warning system to drivers when it's time to align their vehicles;
- Tuned Performance Indicators, which display letters in the tread—D for dry, W for wet and S for snow—to indicate the tire's optimal performance level; and
- The firm's Comfort Ride technology, which absorbs vibrations caused by road surface irregularities.
“The TrueContact brings together many of our innovative technologies into one, all-season tire,” said Travis Roffler, director of marketing for Continental Tire. “We've blended our EcoPlus and Comfort Ride technologies with our Tuned Performance Indicators and added in our newest technology, the Alignment Verification System, to give consumers a tire that will save them money and give them the performance they demand.”
