RICHMOND, Quebec (April 1, 2014) — Montreal-area retreader Pneus et Rechapage Uni Inc. has begun using Continental Tire the Americas L.L.C.'s ContiTreads flat precure tread rubber in its retread plant, the first Canadian company licensed by Conti for this product.
Pneus et Rechapage Uni will be supplying authorized Continental truck tire dealers throughout eastern Canada with ContiTread retreads produced at its Richmond facility, Conti said.
In business for 10 years, Pneus et Rechapage Uni is an independent retreader, using equipment selected by co-owner Pierre Dodier and tread rubber sourced from Brazil and India.
Aligning his company with Continental will allow him to pursue business with fleets and larger customers, Mr. Dodier said. As a result he expects to double output in the short-term to 15,000 to 16,000 units a year and then expand again in a second phase to more than 20,000 units.
Mr. Dodier said he has two options for expanding the business: either to enlarge the existing facility in Richmond or build a new plant on land he has already evaluated.
“Continental's sales staff, as well as its dedicated retread engineers, provided us with guidance every step of the way and met our needs as a retreader,” Mr. Dodier said of the technical assistance Conti has provided.
He also noted Conti's family of truck tires, especially its regional and traction products, sets the company apart from other tire manufacturers.
Pneus et Rechapage Uni is planning a grand-opening on April 15 at its plant at 630 Desmarais Street, Richmond, Quebec, J0B 2H0. Please RSVP to [email protected] or by phone to Patrick Lachance, 514-825-8473.
Richmond is a town of about 3,300 about 75 miles east of Montreal, between Drummondville and Sherbrooke, Quebec.
