KEMP, Texas (March 18, 2014) — Industrial grade lighting supplier Larson Electronics has released the EPL-16BS-1X150LED-100, a class 1 and 2, division 1 and 2 portable explosion-proof LED light designed to provide operators with an easy-to-maneuver work light for use in hazardous locations.

The compact LED light head on the new unit produces 12,000 lumens of light while drawing only 150 watts, the firm said. The light head is mounted atop a base stand that is fabricated from non-sparking aluminum.

The LED lamp head is T5 temperature rated and retains 80 percent of its lumen output after 60,000 hours of use, according to Larson. The light head features multiple LED drivers, which help to increase the operational life of the fixture.

Larson said that with traditional LED lights, in the event an LED array or driver fails, the entire fixture no longer illuminates. The EPL-16BS-1X150LED-100 contains twelve LED boards configured in a series of banks, with each bank containing two LED boards with an individual driver.

In the event of a driver failure, only one bank of LEDs will be affected while the other banks will continue to operate. When an LED failure occurs, the mating LED will continue to operate, the firm said.

The lamp can be adjusted up or down 90 degrees and locked into position by loosening the two hand screws located on the side of the light head, Larson said. Once the light is in the desired position, the user then can tighten the screws back to set the position.

The light frame assembly also features a carrying handle for easy transport along with a hand screw at the base, allowing operators to pivot the top frame assembly on the four-leg base stand. Included with the product is a 100-foot SOOW cord terminated in a 1523 explosion-proof straight blade plug. This unit is multi-voltage capable and can be configured to operate on 120-277 volts AC.

More information on Larson's full line of industrial grade lighting solutions can be found on the company's website, www.larsonelectronics.com.
