AMBLER, Pa. (March 18, 2014) — Long time tire industry veteran William “Bill” Hirst Jr. died unexpectedly March 13 at the age of 57.

Mr. Hirst was a tire marketing executive with more than 34 years of experience in the industry. His most recent position was vice president of program sales for Miami-based distributor Tire Group International (TGI) L.L.C.'s domestic division, a role he took on in 2012. A spokeswoman for TGI told Tire Business that Mr. Hirst had worked primarily from home before leaving the company in early 2013.

Prior to joining TGI, he served for eight years as TBC Corp.'s executive vice president of sales for key brands and 10 years as vice president of sales and marketing for Treadways Corp.

Mr. Hirst was born in Philadelphia, the son of Louise Hirst and William Hirst Sr. An avid golfer, he was a past president, officer and 30-plus-year member of the Plymouth Country Club in Plymouth Meeting, Pa., where he also once was club champion.

Mr. Hirst is survived by his mother; his wife Barbara Hirst, of Ambler; daughters Alyssa Hirst and Sarah Hirst, of Ambler; brother Stephen Hirst, of Lafayette Hill, Pa.; mother-in-law Genevieve La Noce; brother-in-law Paul La Noce (Carrie); and a niece and a nephew.

Relatives and friends are invited to call after 10 a.m. Friday, March 21 at St. Alphonsus Church, 1565 Temple Drive, Maple Glen, Pa. An 11 a.m. funeral Mass will be celebrated with Rev. Stephen Leva, but interment will be private, the family said.

Remembrances in Mr. Hirst's name can be made out to St. Alphonsus Church, 33 Conwell Drive, Maple Glen, Pa. 19002, or the J. Wood Platt Caddie Scholarship, 1974 Sproul Road, Suite 400, Broomall, Pa. 19008.
