    TIA's 2013 Hall of Fame inductees (left to right) were Richard “Dick” Johnson and Robert “Bob” Dunlap, with Scott Williams accepting the posthumous award on behalf of late Hawaii tire dealer Lex Brodie.

    BOWIE, Md. (March 6, 2014) — The Tire Industry Association (TIA) is accepting nominations for its 2014 Tire Industry Hall of Fame.

    The deadline for nominations is July 7, TIA said.

    The Hall of Fame is open to living or deceased individuals in the tire industry, including manufacturers, inventors, publishers, equipment suppliers, tire association executives, tire dealers, tire and rubber recyclers and retreaders. Inductees are chosen based on the following criteria:

    • Their contributions of new ideas, practices and/or innovations that promote the health and well-being of the tire industry;

    • Their exemplary and distinguished service in the tire industry; and

    • The respect of their peers.

    Contributions in civic, cultural, educational or charitable endeavors will be considered, but are not a primary consideration as attributes for selection, according to TIA.

    “The tire industry has so many individuals that are worthy of recognition and it is an honor for us to induct the honorees each year,” said TIA Executive Vice President Roy Littlefield.

    Hall of Fame inductions will take place on Nov. 3, as part of TIA's Tire Industry Honors Awards Ceremony taking place prior to the Global Tire Expo — Powered by TIA, which is part of the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show Nov. 4-7 in Las Vegas.

    Last year's inductees were: Lex Brodie, the late founder of Lex Brodie's Tire Co.; Robert Dunlap, president and CEO of Dunlap & Kyle Co. Inc.; and Richard Johnson, retired chairman and CEO of American Tire Distributors Holdings Inc.

    A Hall of Fame nomination form is available for download at TIA's website or by contacting TIA Director of Marketing Donna Sage at [email protected] or 301-430-7280, ext. 102.
