CHESAPEAKE, Va. (March 5, 2014) — D. Thomas Marsh, president of Chesapeake-based Centrotrade Minerals and Metals Inc., is the new chairman of ASTM International's Committee D11.
A member of ASTM International since 1990, Mr. Marsh has served on the ASTM board of directors since 2011 and is the 2014 chairman of its Finance and Audit Committee.
As chairman of Committee D11, he will be in charge of approximately 340 technical experts who oversee 222 ASTM International standards for rubber, rubber products, and systems and services appropriate to rubber technology.
A graduate of Ohio State and Liberty universities, Mr. Marsh began his career in 1987 as a technician for General Latex and Chemical Corp. in Ashland, Ohio. He joined Centrotrade in 1999.
In addition to his involvement on the ASTM board and Committee D11, he works on ASTM International Committee F23 on Personal Protective Clothing and Equipment. He is also a past member of the ASTM Committee on Technical Committee Operations.
ASTM is a standards development organization that serves as an open forum for the development of international standards. Until 2001 it was known as the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM).
