Trelleborg caps successful showing at Spain ag event

ZARAGOZA, Spain (Feb. 21, 2014) — "Sustainable farming" was the theme of Trelleborg Wheel Systems S.p.A.'s booth presentation at the FIMA Agricola 2014 show held in Zaragoza.

The company said it presented its portfolio of tires and complete wheel solutions at the event, which ran Feb. 11- 15, offering farming professionals "best-in-class solutions that boost the efficiency and productivity of their operations."

Trelleborg's sustainable farming-themed booth featured an LED waterfall that reflected the company's "sustainable stance and underlines its commitment to providing solutions which not only provide added value for the customer, but for the environment as well."

Among new products exhibited at the show, Trelleborg unveiled its giant IF900/65R46 TM1000 High Power tire with 46-inch THK rim. Its new BlueTire tread design—engineered to maximize tread width and ensure the widest footprint on the market—provides optimum pressure distribution and "the utmost respect for the soil," according to Trelleborg.

The company also featured its ProgressiveTraction concept agricultural tire, designed to improve farming efficiency via use of a double lug that, while operating on soil at different times, progressively releases higher traction where and when required.

According to the company, the ProgressiveTraction tire demonstrates a traction capacity over 10 percent higher when compared to similar standard tires. The tire's extra pulling force results in a 3- to 5-percent reduction of working time, Trelleborg claimed, as well as a 5-percent reduction in fuel consumption, providing farming operations with substantial cost savings.

The ProgressiveTraction tire received the "Machine of the Year 2014" at the Agritechnica Exhibition in Hanover, Germany, Trelleborg said, and the 'Silver Ears 2013' award at the Agribex agricultural exhibition in Brussels, Belgium.

Trelleborg Wheel Systems is a global supplier of tires and complete wheel systems for agricultural and forest machinery, forklift trucks and other materials-handling vehicles. The company also operates Maine Industrial Tire, a U.S.-based firm specializing in solid vehicle tires.
