CLERMONT-FERRAND, France (Feb. 3, 2014) — Group Michelin has launched an online reference tool dedicated to its range of tires for vintage and classic cars that offers expert advice on tire selection and a database of more than 2,400 vehicles.
The site, www.michelinclassic.com, is available in English, German and French and is intended primarily for for European customers, although the French tire maker calls it a "global service." The dealer locator feature on the site directs North American users to Coker Tire Co., which handles distribution of Michelin-brand vintage tires on this continent.
The site includes phone and email "hotlines" that provide users direct contact with a Michelin expert, the company said.
Among the services available on the site are a catalog of the Michelin classic and vintage tires available, online ordering options and a dealer locator for the individual's nearest retailer. The catalog includes Michelin's portfolio of vintage competition tires.
Michelin said its decision to launch the site reflects its desire to maintain and preserve its living heritage. The tire maker said it maintains a portfolio of vintage and classic tires that "faithfully replicate the design and construction of the era while dialing in modern technological advances in the areas of research and development, manufacturing methods and materials."
