PEORIA, Ariz. (Jan. 30, 2014) — Independent auto repair chain Wilhelm Automotive has partnered with The Hybrid Shop (THS) to bring hybrid-electric vehicle diagnostics, repair and maintenance services to its seven Arizona locations.
Gainesville, Va.-based THS, founded in 2013, offers dealers a "business within a business" designed to provide them with multiple new revenue streams, including hybrid battery conditioning, motor-generator testing, power inverter and control system testing and a variety of other hybrid vehicle-specific services.
Matt Curry, former owner of Curry's Auto Service in Maryland, is a founding partner of THS.
The company's battery pack reconditioning service, a key component of its program, allows hybrid owners to restore instead of replace their vehicle batteries. The service potentially can restore up to 95 percent of the battery pack's original power and energy, according to THS.
Wilhelm Automotive's staff and technicians have participated in training for the new hybrid technology, including a comprehensive on-site, four-day training course on hybrid diagnostics.
"We are excited to join THS as a dealer," said Wilhelm Automotive President Chris Garman. "We see the future of the hybrid and EV markets, and were looking for a way to meet the needs of an underserved market in the Phoenix area. Our partnership with THS gives us that opportunity by providing expert training, support and products that will set us apart."
Wilhelm Automotive, a family-owned and -operated automotive repair shop since 1928, owns outlets in Peoria, Surprise, Goodyear, Litchfield Park, Tatum Ranch, Scottsdale Airpark and Phoenix/Arcadia.
