AKRON (Jan. 24, 2014) — Nearly a year after it began shipping consumer tires to U.S. dealers, Aeolus Tyre Co. Ltd. has fleshed out its lineup to six passenger and two light truck/SUV lines, with a true CUV line and a mud-terrain LT tire on tap for later this year, according to Mike Leverington, the former Kumho Tire USA Corp. executive who is spearheading the Chinese firm's North American initiative.
Mr. Leverington recently stopped by Tire Business' offices in Akron to discuss the firm's progress and expectations with Bruce Davis, special projects editor.
Aeolus has struck distribution deals with several key regional wholesalers, Mr. Leverington said, hired a sales rep for the western U.S. and launched a U.S.-specific web site.
Mr. Leverington said he's planning a series of informational and training sessions with the key distributors to help retailers understand Aeolus' product line and market position strategy.
Aeolus committed to bringing its consumer tire lineup to the U.S. in late 2012 and started shipping product in early 2013.
