AKRON (Jan. 20, 2014) —To help commemorate rapper Ice Cube's song, "It Was A Good Day," Goodyear has kicked in some assistance in a campaign to raise $25,000 for a Los Angeles charity.
In the musical video for the song from several years ago, a Goodyear blimp flies overhead. The campaign for the charity "A Place Called Home" is contingent upon having Goodyear really fly the Blimp over LA today.
Ice Cube recently spoke about the campaign on the Late Night with Jimmy Fallon show.
He said the day in his song is Jan. 20 because someone broke it down "in a science lab or something" that "everything I talked about in the song, happened on Jan. 20, I think 1992."
He joked, "Goodyear, do this before we call you 'Bad year.'"
Goodyear said to help the charity raise the money, the Akron-based tire maker has decided to make it a "good day" for the kids of A Place Called Home by flying the blimp over LA, and inviting some of the charity's children along for the ride.
Goodyear tweeted out a request to Ice Cube asking him to join the kids from the charity on the blimp for the campaign.
