BURLINGTON, Ontario (Jan. 20, 2014) — TriCan Tire Distributors Inc. has acquired the wholesale distribution business of Kipling Tire Co. Ltd., expanding its presence in southern Ontario.
TriCan Tire, a subsidiary of American Tire Distributors Holdings Inc. (ATD), did not disclose financial terms of the deal. Etobicoke, Ontario-based Kipling Tire's retail business is not affected by the deal, the parties said.
Through its wholesale operation in Etobicoke, Kipling served around 400 accounts in southern Ontario.
This is ATD/TriCan's second acquisition since being acquired itself by ATD in late 2012.
Last May TriCan acquired Regional Tire Distributors Inc. of Burlington, Ontario, for about $62.5 million, adding five distribution centers in Ontario and four in the Atlantic Provinces, and this past December it bought Wholesale Tire Distributors Inc. (WTD) of Vaughan, Ontario, with two distribution centers serving customers southern Ontario.
