WASHINGTON (Jan. 9, 2014) — The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has scheduled an online Web meeting Jan. 22 on technical specifications for a safety recall look-up tool that the agency intends to place on its website.
On Aug. 20, 2013, NHTSA issued a final rule requiring vehicle manufacturers to allow the secure electronic transfer of manufacturer recall data to the agency when a consumer submits his vehicle identification number to the agency website for the purpose of finding out about recalls.
Hosts of the webinar, which will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. EST, will discuss the details of the technical specifications for the new rule, provide answers to questions and concerns about the rule, and listen to feedback on the specifications.
To register for the Web meeting, send an email to [email protected] by Jan. 17. Send the names of your participants and the number of Web meeting connections you will need.
