CHICAGO — Joe Bacarella, an ASE-certified L1 Master Technician with Tenneco Inc., will lead the seminar "Five Fundamental Checks toward Resolving Converter Efficiency Concerns" April 4 during the Auto TECH expo, taking place at Hyatt Regency O'Hare in Chicago.
The session will include use of a chart showing air/fuel ratios and the large difference between what is required for an engine to operate and the tight range required for a converter to operate efficiently, according to show organizers.
During his presentation, Mr. Bacarella will cover easy ways to test for fuel control and discuss the most common steps technicians can use to resolve air/fuel-ratio issues.
This class includes a basic discussion of fuel trim; cylinder balance; mass-airflow and O2 sensors as they apply to converter efficiency; and simple ways to resolve efficiency issues through focusing on basic repairs.
