NEW YORK (Jan. 7, 2014) — Standard Motor Products Inc. (SMP) recently picked up five awards from the Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance Inc. (AAPA).
The awards were presented during the alliance's annual shareholders' winter meeting, Dec. 7-12 at the Turnberry Isle Resort in Aventura, Fla. SMP said it was recognized for its “outstanding training support and outstanding shipping performance.”
Ken Wendling, SMP's vice president of warehouse distribution sales, said receiving the awards “is an extraordinary accomplishment and we are very proud to share these prestigious honors with all of those who work extremely hard every day to make sure our business and partnership with the alliance continues to grow and flourish.
“I'd especially like to acknowledge the fine work our training division has done in support of the Alliance group.”
This was the 12th time SMP received the outstanding training support award, presented to the company for providing AAPA shareholders and their technician customers “the most complete and comprehensive training program in the aftermarket,” according to SMP.
Last year the firm trained more than 6,500 technicians and counterpersons at more than 200 training events in the U.S. and Canada for the AAPA and also provided extensive training through its online webinar-based training program.
In the outstanding shipping performance category, awards are given to suppliers with an average fill rate of 95 percent or greater for the entire year. SMP said it received four plaques in this area for its Standard Engine Management, Parts Master Wire & Cable, Four Seasons Temperature Control and Original Engine Management (OEM) product lines.
SMP supplies independent professional auto technicians and automotive do-it-yourselfers with replacement parts for engine management ignition, emission and fuel systems as well as temperature control products for domestic and import cars and light trucks. Its products are sold through both traditional and non-traditional distribution channels.
