CINCINNATITire Discounters Inc. is targeting Tennessee as the next phase of its ambitious growth strategy, with as many as five stores set to open in the Nashville area this coming spring and a half-dozen or more other locations in the works by early 2015.
The Cincinnati-based dealership's push southward is on top of its plans to open as many as a dozen stores in Kentucky and Ohio over the same time period.
Tire Discounters anticipates opening locations in Bellevue, Brentwood, Hendersonville, Mt. Juliet and Smyrna, Tenn., during the first half of 2014, with at least a dozen total locations planned for the Nashville region over the next 15 months.
The dealership said it expects to hire more than 120 Nashville-area residents to operate the stores.
The Nashville-area locations will feature Tire Discounters' store of the future design it recently unveiled.
Tire Discounters' owner and founder Chip Wood resides in Tennessee and is dedicated to bringing Tire Discounters to his friends and neighbors, said Jamie Ward, executive vice president.
The dealership did not comment on the investment budgeted for this expansion. All the new stores will be new construction, the dealership said.
The company is the ninth largest independent tire dealership in the U.S. with 87 retail locations in Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio.
