NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (Dec. 18, 2013) — The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) has named Glen Dahl, senior coordinator, technical education, for Bridgestone Retail Operations (BSRO), the chairman of the ASE board for 2014.

“We're…honored that Glenn Dahl…will serve as chairman of ASE's board of directors in 2014,” BSRO President Stu Crum said. “The education and certification provided by ASE is integral to our business, and we're proud to have someone as dedicated and skilled as Glenn representing our company in this prestigious position.”

Mr. Dahl, a 33-year industry veteran, will help lead the ASE board of directors in its mission to improve the quality of vehicle repair and service by testing and certifying repair and service professionals, Bridgestone said.

Bill O'Hara, auto tech at the Firestone Complete Auto Care store in Fairfield, Calif., is Bridgestone Retail's 'Master Automobile Technician' of the year.

Mr. Dahl's “institutional knowledge of ASE will be invaluable as chairman,” said Tim Zilke, ASE president and CEO, noting that he has served on the ASE board of directors and as an officer for a number of years.

Mr. Dahl's appointment was made public at the ASE's fall board meeting on Nov. 21 in Newport Beach.

Bridgestone also noted that Bill O'Hara, a 31-year BSRO veteran who works at the Firestone Complete Auto Care location in Fairfield, Calif., was named the business' ASE Master Automobile Technician of the year.

“Bill is the epitome of what we look for in a BSRO teammate,” Mr. Crum said. “His passion for automotive service is evident every day, from his interactions with customers to the support and expertise he shares with co-workers. Bill is a very deserving recipient of this award.”
