ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Dec. 17, 2013) — Wholesaler Max Finkelstein Inc. (MFI) has opened a distribution center in Rochester, extending its reach to dealers in the Rochester, Buffalo and Finger Lakes, N.Y., areas.
“Having a distribution center in the Rochester area increases the productivity of our supply chain, achieving positive customer satisfaction,” said Joe Cote, sales director in the region.
The new location, the firm's 11th distribution center (DC), is a leased 70,000-sq.-ft. builiding in the western part of Rochester, near the junction of I-480 and I-390. It opened recently with a staff of 16 and 10 delivery vehicles, the firm said.
Queens, N.Y-based Finkelstein's next nearest DC is in Binghamton, N.Y., about 160 miles to the southeast, which the company has been using to service these more upstate customers.
This is the second DC that Finkelstein has opened in recent weeks, following the late October opening of an 80,000-sq.-ft. leased warehouse in Fairfield, N.J.
Family-owned MFI began in 1919 in Long Island City, N.Y. The company distributes Goodyear, Dunlop, Kelly, Pirelli, Kumho, Aeolus, Goodride and Carlisle products to tire dealers throughout the Northeast and administers the G3X, Pirelli FasTrack and Kumho Premium Fuel dealer marketing programs.
In addition to the Rochester, Binghamton and Fairfield distribution centers, the company operates warehouses in Long Island City, Ronkonkoma, and Croton on Hudson, N.Y.; Dayton, N.J.; South Windsor, Conn.; Lewiston, Maine; Randolph Center, Vermont; and Reading, Pa.
The firm services more than 4,000 customers throughout a 12-state area with a delivery fleet numbering more than 100 trucks, according to the company's website.
