ROSELAND, N.J. (Dec. 5, 2013) — Private sector employment in the U.S. increased by 215,000 jobs in November.
That's about 50,000 more than projected, according to the latest National Employment Report from ADP, a payroll services company.
Small companies accounted for nearly half the jobs increase, according to ADP. Businesses with 1 to 19 employees added 57,000 jobs to the economy, while those with 20 to 49 employees added 45,000 jobs.
Medium-sized businesses (50 to 499 workers) increased employment by 48,000 jobs, and those with 1,000 employees or more added 70,000 jobs to their payrolls. Businesses of 500 to 999 employees, however, lost 5,000 jobs during the month.
ADP compiles its monthly employment reports from its own payroll data, in collaboration with Moody's Analytics.
The federal government's November employment report is due out Dec. 6 from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
