ROANOKE, Va. (Dec. 3, 2013) — Automotive aftermarket parts retailer Advance Auto Parts Inc. has tapped Michael Creedon to head Autopart International (AI) as president.

Mr. Creedon, who joins Advance from Sensormatic L.L.C., will lead the company's efforts "to deliver on its unique value proposition of premium parts and expert service," Advance said. Additionally, he will be responsible for growing company profitability by focusing on "the continued execution of that value proposition which is focused on the professional technician and Commercial business."

Mr. Creedon will report to Jim Durkin, senior vice president, commercial business, and will reside in Boston.

Prior to joining AI, Mr. Creedon most recently served as vice president and general manager for Sensormatic's North America Sales and Operation, where he was responsible for the strategic direction, operational performance and financial contribution of Tyco Integrated Security's largest North America vertical. Prior to that he held various leadership positions with ADT Security Services Inc. and Tyco International (US) Inc.

"Mike is a natural fit with AI's high energy, people and customer centered culture," Mr. Durkin said. "He is a highly engaged leader with a track record of growing profitability by focusing on the customer and delivering a superior service experience.

"Most recently he led Tyco's Sensormatic subsidiary, after working his way up through the Tyco organization where he began as an analyst. Mike takes a lot of pride in the accomplishments of his team at Sensormatic and I am confident he will lead our Autopart International team to continued success."

Roanoke-based Advance Auto Parts operated 4,018 stores in 39 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands as of Oct. 5.
