NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Dec. 3, 2013) — Bridgestone Commercial Solutions has launched the M749 drive radial tire designed specifically for long- and regional-haul auto-haul transportation vehicles in the U.S. and Canada.
The tire is available now in size 295/60R22.5, a new size unique to the Bridgestone lineup, the company said.
Features of the tire include the company's patented WaveBelt design, meant to minimize belt stress at the edges and preserve casing durability; tie bars to control shoulder tread block movement for low rolling resistance and long, even wear; multiple cross-rib sipes to improve traction; and Flexible Groove Fence partitions in the tire groove to dampen noise.
"This new product is built to withstand the carrying capacity demands of the auto-haul segment while also maintaining the maximum sustained speed necessary when traveling long stretches of highway," said Bert Jones, Bridgestone's manager, product marketing, TBR, retread and OTR.
