ELGIN, Ill. (Dec. 2, 2013) — SKF Vehicle Service Market (VSM) North America training trucks have visited more than 100,000 professional technicians across North America since the company launched the program in 2010.
SKF said the core of its training truck program revolves around six training vehicles that cover the automotive and heavy duty aftermarkets in the U.S. and Canada, providing interactive vehicle system assemblies and a large-screen monitor for showing technical tip and product videos.
The trucks are also equipped with product cutaways that show the differences between SKF premium products and value line products, along with SKF's TFO (Trouble Free Operation) systems approach program.
Topics covered include: failure analysis, proper removal and installation techniques, as well as proper drivetrain, engine and wheel end maintenance practices.
“The SKF training trucks are designed to not only showcase SKF products, but to educate automotive and heavy duty technicians about how to successfully install SKF products,” said Pete Kaftantzis, the company's technical training supervisor.
“By delivering SKF knowledge through the training trucks, SKF is helping technicians ultimately maintain a profitable repair business through proper maintenance and repair practices.”
Each truck is outfitted to highlight SKF online training capabilities, the company said, including an active Twitter page and a YouTube channel.
