BOWIE, Md. (Nov. 25, 2013) — The Tire Industry Association's Environmental Advisory Council (EAC) has issued best management practices guidelines for proper tire storage.
The document outlines the steps tire dealers must take in storing tires to maximize the service life of their inventory, TIA said.
“If tires are not stored correctly, it may result in the loss of performance as prolonged exposure to outside forces like heat, direct sunlight and ozone can affect the integrity of the materials,” TIA said.
The document includes guidelines for outdoor and long-term storage of vehicles, TIA said.
This is the seventh best management practices compilation TIA has drafted, covering handling, transporting, recycling and/or disposing of materials important to tire dealers, including tires, used oil, fluids, degreasers and batteries. All available for free download at www.tireindustry.org.
