Jack Williams Tire rebuilds store destroyed by fire

MOUNT POCONO, Pa. (Nov. 20, 2013) — About five months after a fire destroyed its tire store in Mount Pocono, Jack Williams Tire and Auto Services Center has rebuilt and reopened an updated store at the same location.

The fire broke out after closing hours June 15 at the store in Mount Pocono and caused a reported $2 million in damages, forcing the dealership to move its operations to a temporary location.

Jack Williams Tire has 28 locations throughout northeastern and eastern Pennsylvania.

On Nov. 18, the new Jack Williams Tire store held an official grand re-opening and ribbon cutting ceremony and announced the company had raised $5,500 through its Handy Jack Gives Back campaign, which will be donated to the volunteer fire departments that responded to the store's fire.

"Although our store's staff was able to continue to service the tire and auto needs of its customers in a temporary location less than 1 mile down the road, it's great to be back on our feet at our home location," said Jason Denig, general manager of the Mount Pocono store.

"From the local police department and emergency medical services, to almost a dozen volunteer fire departments, the volume of responders to battle the store blaze was nothing short of impressive," said Jason Williams, executive vice president of Jack Williams Tire.

As a way to show its appreciation to all responders, Jack Williams Tire said it organized a Handy Jack Gives Back campaign to help raise funds for those groups involved in fighting the fire. Pocono Summit Volunteer Fire Department, the primary responder during the fire, was awarded a $1,000 donation. Tobyhanna, Coolbaugh, Pocono Mountain, Barrett, Tunkhannock Township, Thornhurst, Pocono Township, Jackson Township and Gouldsboro volunteer fire companies were each awarded $500.
