LAS VEGAS (Nov. 19, 2013) — Continental Tire the Americas L.L.C. is adding the ContiForceContact, a DOT-approved track-and-road tire, to its performance tire portfolio.
Developed originally in Europe for European customers, the "ultra-responsive" ContiForceContact will be available exclusively through Tire Rack Inc., Continental said, starting Dec. 1.
The tire is engineered for track and street performance, Conti said, delivering "precise control, confident handling and outstanding grip" for the serious driving enthusiast. It will launch in 10 sizes, ranging from 225/40ZR18 to 325/30ZR19.
Pricing will be set by Tire Rack, Conti said.
"We're happy to bring our racing and passenger car technologies together to give our enthusiasts the tire they've been asking for,…" said Travis Roffler, director of marketing for Continental Tire.
The tire offers a tread pattern with a solid center rib and strong macro block shoulders for high steering precision mated with a "black chili" compound—with special grip resins—for enhanced dry grip, Conti said. Wide circumferential grooves in the center and bi-directional drainage grooves on the inside third of the tread efficiently evacuate water to resist hydroplaning; surface-modified silica provides enhanced grip on wet surfaces.
Conti builds the tire at its plant in Otrokovice, Czech Republic.
