BOWIE, Md. (Nov. 12, 2013) — The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has picked 13 locations for its 2014 Automotive Tire Service (ATS) Advanced Instructor Training Tour.
TIA said the four-day, in-depth hands-on training classes will be conducted around the U.S., with the goal of educating tire technicians on the proper safety procedures and guidelines for servicing passenger and light truck tire and wheel assemblies. Most of these classes are held at local community and technical colleges.
"The ATS Instructor Tour has been a tremendous success over the last couple of years and we have certified over 300 instructors during that time period," said Kevin Rohlwing, TIA senior vice president of training.
Mr. Rohlwing said the association is making the training "more accessible to retailers across the country" and has been getting a good response.
"As long as the demand for training continues to grow, we'll keep adding new cities and revisiting cities where attendance was strong," he added.
TIA will be visiting 13 cities in 2014. Exact dates for each location will be confirmed and announced in the near future. The preliminary schedule is:
- February: Charlotte, N.C.;
- March: Sarasota, Fla. and Houston;
- April: Denver and Baltimore;
- May: Minneapolis;
- June: Pittsburgh;
- July: San Francisco;
- August: Chicago;
- September: Cincinnati, Ohio and Boston; and
- October: Los Angeles and Tallahassee, Fla.
