Auto Spot Tire Pros supporting military with 'Birdies for Brave'

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Nov. 6, 2013) — Auto Spot Tire Pros will celebrate Veterans Day by teaming up with the "Birdies for the Brave" program in support of military members and their families.

The Jacksonville-based auto service and tire retailer said that between Nov. 8 and Nov. 30 its two Jacksonville locations will invite customers to make a donation of $1 or $5 at the register. In turn, Auto Spot will match customer-donated funds up to $500. During the same time period, the company also will increase to 20 percent its standard 10-percent discount for military members and veterans.

With numerous family members who have served in the military and one veteran on the staff, Auto Spot owners Cami and John Mourao said they are "heartfelt in their support for our nation's courageous American heroes and their families."

"As Americans, we all owe the brave men and women of our U.S. Armed Forces and their families an enormous debt of gratitude," Cami Mourao said. "Partnering with the Birdies for the Brave program makes a tremendous amount of sense, given our shared passion for supporting our military and our mutual admiration for all that these courageous heroes do to keep America free and safe.

Birdies for the Brave is a national military outreach initiative supported by the PGA Tour. The concept was originally created in 2006 by PGA Tour player Phil Mickelson and his wife Amy to support combat-wounded veterans. The PGA Tour subsequently adopted Birdies for the Brave and expanded it to include a variety of military outreach initiatives, including military appreciation activities during PGA Tour tournaments and a series Birdies for the Brave fundraising events at the Tour's TPC clubs nationwide.

The initiative has raised more than $10 million for 10 military homefront groups that are supported by Tour players and which provide critical programs and services to meet the specialized needs of wounded warriors and military families.
