FULLERTON, Calif. (Nov. 5, 2013) — Yokohama Tire Mexico (YMX) has hired Humberto Gomez, a retired Bridgestone Americas executve, as its new director general.
Mr. Gomez will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of Queretaro, Mexico-based TMX, a subsidiary of Yokohama Tire Corp., which is based in Fullerton. The tire maker said the position was created to meet the growing demand for consumer, commercial and off-the-road tires in the country.
A 30-year tire industry veteran, Mr. Gomez came out of retirement to join Yokohama, according to Gary Nash, president of YTMX. "We are very fortunate to have Humberto join our team in Mexico," he said. "He brings an incredible wealth of knowledge and experience, which will provide us with vital sales, distribution and business logistical advantages."
An industrial engineer from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, Mr. Gomez also holds a Master's Degree in Engineering in Operations Research from the University of Toronto, Canada.
He worked three decades for Bridgestone Corp., spending much of that time in Mexico where he held several positions, including vice president of the commercial division. He also worked for the company as president in several Latin countries, including Venezuela, Costa Rica and Brazil.
"I am happy to be part of the Yokohama team," Mr. Gomez said, "and look forward to further building Yokohama's stronghold in Mexico with increased brand recognition and sales."
