SEMA Show offers 'Obamacare' seminar

LAS VEGAS (Oct. 31, 2013) — The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) will present a seminar on the healthcare reform law and provide free consultations at the upcoming SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

"Whether you're a business owner or an employee, it's critical that you understand the requirements of the new health care reform law," Diamond Bar, Calif.-based SEMA said. Although the Affordable Care Act's (ACA) employer mandate penalties have been delayed one year until 2015, the trade group noted that other obligations impacting companies of all sizes and their workers will still take effect in 2013 and 2014.

SEMA will provide two opportunities for members to understand the law and plan accordingly:

Michelle Katz, a healthcare advocate with numerous appearances on national TV and radio shows, will help SEMA members navigate the healthcare insurance system.

• Seminar: The SEMA Education Institute (SEI) is presenting the "Healthcare Reform Law: What You Need to Know!" seminar at the SEMA Show from 11 a.m.–noon on Monday, Nov. 4, in Room N253 and the Las Vegas Convention Center. Health care reform expert Kelly Davis of Clifton Larson Allen will provide an overview of the law and focus on key issues affecting companies of all sizes and their workers.

Ms. Davis' presentation will include details on the employer/individual mandates and the insurance exchanges being created to assist smaller companies and individuals in shopping for affordable coverage, SEMA said. She will be joined by Michelle Katz, a widely acclaimed healthcare advocate, along with Stuart Gosswein. SEMA's director of federal government affairs

• One-on-one consultations: SEMA members also will have an opportunity to receive a free one-on-one private consultation with Ms. Katz, who specializes in helping reduce healthcare costs for companies and individuals.

She will be available from 1–5 p.m. on Nov. 4, and from 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, to discuss specific questions about the ACA and work with companies to customize solutions.

To secure a 30-minute consultation with Ms. Katz, SEMA said participants should send an RSVP to AJ Carney via email at [email protected]g and provide preferred date(s) and time(s). Meetings will be arranged on a first-come, first-served basis, so the association suggested providing multiple options to help ensure placement. Space is limited.
