RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. (Oct. 29, 2013) — For the 13th year, Kumho Tire U.S.A. Inc. is the presenting sponsor for the Grassroots Motorsports $2013 Challenge.

The event takes place at Auto-Plus Raceway in Gainesville, Fla., Nov. 14-16.

Kumho said the basic premise of the challenge is simple: Teams are dared to buy, build and prepare a car without spending more than the budget cap, which is always equal to the year of the competition, so teams are limited to $2,013 this year.

"Kumho Tire is excited to be the presenting sponsor of the Grassroots Motorsports $2013 challenge for the 4th consecutive year," said Harry Choi, president of Kumho Tire U.S.A. "It's grassroots events such as this that really bring out the passionate automotive fans and we are excited to be a part of this community."

The tire maker said everything — from a Richard Petty tribute Honda Civic and a Corvette with active aero, to a VW Bug worthy of "American Graffiti" — has been showcased at the event.

"Crapcan racers" from the 24 Hours of LeMons  and ChumpCar World Series, including their full regalia, have also been shown at the events. There also is a trophy awarded for the fastest "crapcan veteran," according to Kumho.

In addition to Kumho, this year's Grassroots Challenge is powered by eBay Motors and sponsored by CRC Industries.

More details about the event are available on its website or Facebook site.
