YARMOUTH, MaineThe New England Tire & Service Association (NETSA) has distributed $24,000 in scholarship funds this year $2,000 each to 12 scholarship winners.
Scholarship winners must be employees of NETSA members or the employees' dependents and must submit a completed NETSA scholarship application to the scholarship committee by April 30.
NETSA said winners are then selected by either the individual scholarship co-sponsor or the scholarship committee. Each winner receives $2,000 toward college or post graduate technical school tuition.
Each scholarship sponsor contributes $1,000. NETSA said it then matches that with an additional $1,000 with funds raised at the association's annual golf outing and the annual scholarship auction held at the NETSA tradeshow in April.
NETSA said it strives to continue expanding the number of scholarships awarded every year.
This year's co-sponsors of the scholarship funds were Wells Fargo Special Risks, Maynard & Lesieur, Mohawk Rubber Sales, Sullivan Tire, Melvin's Tire Pros, Pete's Tire Barn, Tom Lyons Tire, Connecticut Tire Dealers Association, Nokian Tyres and Hennessy Industries.
