CHICAGO (Oct. 25, 2013) — Delphi Product & Services Solutions, a division of Delphi Corp., will present at the Auto Tech expo, April 3-5 at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare in Chicago..
Greg Moyers, an aftermarket services instructor will conduct Diagnosing & Repairing Evaporative Monitor Failures, courtesy of Advance Auto Parts Professional, according to the Auto Tech Expo. The exact date and time of the seminar during the expo has not yet been released.
The seminar is designed for intermediate and advanced technicians, the expo said, and this class covers the EVAP system, its components and the techniques needed for timely diagnosis and repair. EVAP systems are mandated by the federal government to control emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
Technicians who attend the course will become familiar with systems that use a pump and those that do not. Mr. Moyers will explain the required equipment, procedures and safety precautions to find a 0.020-inch leak, the expo said, and also present industry case studies that prove monitor theories and diagnostic techniques.
Technicians attending this seminar will learn about EVAP systems (including operation and function); OBD-II EVAP monitor components, tests and pump systems; the criteria affecting the EVAP monitor; OBD-II EVAP diagnostic trouble codes and EVAP scan-tool diagnosis; tools and techniques for EVAP leak diagnosis; testing for insufficient EVAP flow; EVAP service-bay tests; drivability concerns with EVAP systems; oxygen-sensor operation with EVAP systems; using OBD-II monitors to diagnosis and verify repairs; and diagnosis of evaporative-emissions components.
