LIPETSK, Russia (Oct. 25, 2013) — Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd.'s Russian tire manufacturing and sales subsidiary, L.L.C. Yokohama R.P.Z., held a tree-planting ceremony Oct. 12 on its grounds in the Special Economic Zone in Lipetsk.
The ceremony was the first stage of the planting, conducted as part of Yokohama Rubber's global Yokohama Forever Forest Project. About 283 people — including local government officials, business people and company employees and their family members — attended the event and planted about 1,700 trees.
Yokohama Rubber Group has been carrying out its tree-planting project since 2007, with a goal of planting 500,000 trees at domestic and overseas production sites by the company's 100th anniversary in 2017. The tree planting at L.L.C. Yokohama R.P.Z. brings the total number of trees planted under the Yokohama Forever Forest Project to 315,000.
Yokohama R.P.Z. was established in December 2008 to initiate tire production in Russia and has been manufacturing tires since the plant was completed in May 2012, Yokohama said.
