ST. PETERS, Mo. (Oct. 21, 2013) — Plaza Tire Service opened a second retail store in St. Peters recently, expanding its store network to 57 locations throughout its four-state marketing area.
The 7,020-sq.-ft. location, in an area known as Cave Springs, includes nine service bays and a showroom housing a customer waiting area and products from major tire brands and custom wheels, according to the Cape Girardeau. Mo.-based dealership.
The service bays are equipped with machinery to handle tire and automobile services, Plaza Tire said, such as tire installations and repairs, brakes, shocks, struts, oil changes, alignments, computer balancing, batteries, transmission services, power steering and coolant flushes.
The new location is the dealership's seventh store in St. Charles County, which the company has been serving since 1998, and 41st in Missouri. It also operates eight stores in southern Illinois, five in western Kentucky and three in northeast Arkansas.
Plaza added six stores in the past year, including five that previously were Ewers Tire & Service locations in central Missouri. Plaza Tire Service was established in 1963 by Vernon "Pee Wee" Rhodes. Its first location opened in Cape Girardeau as Plaza Car Wash, a hand-operated car wash. The dealership still operates a store there.
The dealership's growth boosted it to 17th on Tire Business' ranking of independently owned tire retailer in North America.
