ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (Oct. 11, 2013) — The Automotive Maintenance & Repair Association/Motorist Assurance Program will hold its fall membership meeting Nov. 4 in Las Vegas in conjunction with Automotive Industry Week.
In addition to the association's normal business program, Malcom Sissmore, director Canada and North American sales director training, telematics and tools for Delphi Automotive Systems will be the keynote speaker. He will speak on how repair shops can benefit from the growing use of vehicle telematics by having the car itself direct the motorist to your shop for repairs and scheduled maintenance.
The meeting will be held at Treasure Island Hotel and Casino, starting at 4 p.m. It will be followed by a cocktail reception.
The group also recently refreshed its logo and icon, making the car on a lift resemble a modern coupe or hatchback as opposed to a 1980s-era sedan, on which the logo originally was based.
"AMRA/MAP has over 20 years of brand equity in our silhouette of a teal-colored car raised on a repair lift," said AMRA President Barry Soltz. "We certainly wish to retain and build upon that value. You'll notice that the new image certainly looks more modern and yet somehow, very familiar."
As MAP's Uniform Inspection and Communication Standards (UICS) become available electronically, the group said, this icon will become recognizable as a link to MAP Standards and other AMRA/MAP information.
"The car itself represents the three core elements of the repair and maintenance services that AMRA/MAP service provider members offer to consumers: The car is raised on a lift; its hood is raised; and there is a white border outlining the tires," Mr. Soltz said.
"These cues visually represent under-car, underhood and tire- and wheel-related services," he added. .
