BETHESDA, Md. (Sept. 25, 2013) — The Automotive Aftermarkets Industry Association (AAIA) has released Version 3.0 of the Webs Services for Internet Parts Ordering (IPO).
Version 3.0 of IPO offers an invoice document and other significant enhancements over the previous version, AAIA said. The new version offers new support for multi-point shipping information, enhanced confirmation error handling and a highly functional Quote, it said.
Also, the alignment of data elements in 3.0 is equivalent to those in Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), but offers greater flexibility for trading partners who want to employ a hybrid approach, according to AAIA.
"EDI is cumbersome, costly and slow," said Scott Luckett, AAIA chief information officer. "Web Services are nimble, low-cost and much faster to deploy."
The complete version of 3.0, including sample code and fully documented XML schema, is available on the AAIA's website.www.aftermarket.org/technology/IPO.aspx
