BOWIE, Md.The Tire Industry Association members have elected three new and three returning board members to serve on the association's board of directors in 2013-14.
In addition, the TIA board elected Glen Nicholson, director of quality assurance for TBC Retail Group, as secretary, putting him in line to be the association's
president in 2015-16. TIA's bylaws call for the secretary to become the group's vice president then president in a three-year cycle.
The new board members are: Anthony Blackman, Atlantic Tire & Service Inc., Cary, N.C.; Joseph Henmueller, Automotive Maintenance and Repair Association/Motorist Assurance Program, Arlington Heights, Ill.; and Brian Rigney, Dill Air Controls, Oxford, N.C.
Re-elected members are: Ernie Caramanico, Amityville Firestone, Amityville, N.Y.; Lyssa Da Costa, Hercules Tire International, Kitchener, Ontario; and Tom Wright, Wright Tire Service, Anoka, Minn.
Also, Jon Schadl of K&M Tire in Delphos, Ohio, was appointed to the two-year vacancy created by Mr. Nicholson's election as secretary.
Bob Bignell, executive director of the Ontario Tire Dealers Association, is the board's new state/provincial representative.
New board members will be installed at TIA's annual meeting Nov. 4 at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. Ken Brown, owner of Alan Brown Tire Center in Newport, Ore., will take over the presidency.
