TIA elects 3 new members to board

BOWIE, Md. (Sept. 12, 2013) — The Tire Industry Association (TIA) members have elected three new and three returning board members to serve on the association's board of directors in 2013-14.

In addition, the TIA board elected Glen Nicholson, director of quality assurance for TBC Retail Group, as secretary, putting him in line to be the association's president in 2015-16. TIA's bylaws call for the secretary to become the group's vice president then president in a three-year cycle.

The new board members are: Anthony Blackman, Atlantic Tire & Service Inc., Cary, N.C.; Joseph Henmueller, Automotive Maintenance and Repair Association/Motorist Assurance Program, Arlington Heights, Ill.; and Brian Rigney, Dill Air Controls, Oxford, N.C.

Members re-elected are: Ernie Caramanico, Amityville Firestone, Amityville, N.Y.; Lyssa Da Costa, Hercules Tire International, Kitchener, Ontario; and Tom Wright, Wright Tire Service, Anoka, Minn.

Also, Jon Schadl of K&M Tire in Delphos, Ohio, was appointed to the two-year vacancy created by Mr. Nicolson's election as secretary.

Bob Bignell, executive director of the Ontario Tire Dealers Association, is the board's new state/provincial representative.

The new board members will be installed at the TIA Annual Meeting Nov. 4 at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, when Ken Brown, owner of Alan Brown Tire Center in Newport, Ore., will take over the presidency from Randy Groh, vice president of marketing for U.S. Auto Force in Appleton, Wis.

The TIA board has 24 members. Leaving the board will be: Larry Brandt, Paul Dvorak, Reece Hester, Dan Rose and Stu Zurcher.
