GURGAON, India (Aug. 23, 2013) — Apollo Tyres Ltd., in line with its philosophy of "go the distance," said it will create soccer-based play zones in local communities in India and the United Kingdom in partnership with the U.K.'s Manchester United soccer team.
The project will use recycled rubber in the United Kingdom and India, the company said, to encourage healthy lifestyles among youngsters.
Apollo said it has signed a three-year regional partnership with Manchester United Football Club of Manchester, England, which makes Apollo the club's official tire partner in the U.K. and India.
The company will leverage the high profile partnership with Manchester United to raise awareness of its brand among potential customers, business partners and consumer audiences around the world, Apollo said.
The first soccer field Apollo will build will be within the grounds of Old Trafford, Manchester United's stadium, the tire maker said. The initiative will include some specific skills challenges, encouraging users of the Apollo football play zones to achieve excellence in control, agility, speed and precision.
