TIVOLI, Italy (Aug. 14, 2013) — Trelleborg Wheel Systems S.p.A. is expanding the Brawler range of large OTR solid tires, up to now predominantly a North American product, to its global customer base.

The range, which Trelleborg acquired in its purchase last year of Maine Industrial Tire L.L.C., includes specialist tires for waste, recycling and underground mining.

"Brawler is particularly suited to the waste and recycling industries, where many customers are switching from either pneumatics or foam-filled pneumatics to solid tires on large applications," said Roberto Zampieri, construction business development manager for Trelleborg Wheel Systems.

"Sites often operate 24/7 and require tires that last longer, need little maintenance and deliver the best total cost of ownership over their whole life."

The Brawler Solidflex range uses a patented elliptical hole pattern in the sidewall, allowing for much greater deflection over broken terrain, Mr. Zampieri said, "vital for applications where drivers are working on rough ground."

The Brawler range is already used throughout North America in the scrap metal and waste industries as well as in underground mining, Trelleborg said. Machinery applications include loaders, backhoes, skid steers, telehandlers and material handlers.

Trelleborg sources the Brawler line from its plant in Hebei, China, where the company invested recently "in accordance with our group global standards for manufacturing excellence," the firm said.

Sizes offered range from 20-inch skid steer up to 35 inch for wheel loaders.

Canada's Kal Tire, through its Mining Tire Group in the United Kingdom, will be showing the expanded Brawler range at its booth at the Resource Efficiency and Waste Management Solution exhibition in Birmingham, England, Sept. 10-12.
