WASHINGTON (Aug. 14, 2013) — China's Beijing Capital Tyre Co. Ltd. is recalling 2,711 Autoguard-brand LT245/75R16 tires for failing federal truck tire endurance tests and containing incorrect maximum load data.
The tires were manufactured between June 25 and Nov. 11, 2012 at Beijing Capital's plant in Beijing, the tire maker told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
In operation, the tires could suffer tread cracking and air loss, and the incorrect load data could cause consumers to overload the tires, the tire maker said.
Beijing Capital said it had as yet received no claims regarding damage or injury related to the targeted tires.
Beijing Capital Tyre will replace the tires free of charge, but has not yet given NHTSA a timetable for the recall to begin.
Meanwhile, owners of the tires may contact Tire Group International Inc., Beijing Capital Tyre's U.S. contact, at 305-696-0096, ext. 5538.
