AKRON (Aug. 13, 2013) — To mark Tire Business' 30th anniversary, we've kicked off an online anniversary blog series on tirebusiness.com where staffers talk about their time covering the tire industry.
The industry has indeed changed significantly throughout the past 30 years since Tire Business first began reporting on it in 1983. Yet, in some respect, the more it has changed, the more it has remained the same.
As the most recent addition to the Tire Business staff, reporter Jennifer Karpus kicked off the series with her thoughts on entering into this complex industry just a year ago.
Next off the block, reporter Kathy McCarron — who worked fulltime at the publication before taking a multi-year break, then returning about seven years ago — talks about how the supposed staid industry still holds her interest after covering it, on and off, since 1991.
It doesn't hurt that she's had the periodic opportunity on ride-and-drive events to pilot hot cars like a Lamborghini.
Bruce Davis' account, which spans the entire 30 years of Tire Business' history, will be posted next week.
