RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. (Aug. 7, 2013) — GITI Tire (USA) Ltd. has established a Facebook site for its GT Radial commercial truck tires.
The new site's aim is to help connect the tire maker's brand with its audiences in the U.S. and Canada, GITI said.
"There's been tremendous growth in the trucking industry's use of social media over the past five years, and Facebook is one of the most popular platforms," said Justin Wright, product marketing manager, commercial tires, for GITI Tire (USA). "Our goal is to build a progressive Facebook community in which we can exchange information and provide helpful advice to fleets, owner operators, tire dealers and others in the industry."
According to the Facebook site, it was launched in April and has grown to more than 1,200 Likes. It includes information on tire maintenance and preventing irregular wear, while a dealer locator tool on the page can help end users find a local GT Radial dealer.
Mr. Wright said the company plans to steadily build its Facebook fan base from the more than four million Facebook users in North America who are associated with the trucking industry—many of them as fans of the major truck OEMs.
