EDMONTON, Alberta (July 30, 2013) — Atlas Tire Wholesale Inc. is expanding across Canada, opening a second western Canada distribution center, in Edmonton, adding warehouse space in Ontario.
The Mississauga, Ontario-based wholesaler said the new facility it opened in June allows it to build its footprint in western Canada, improving delivery times in Alberta and Saskatchewan. The firm's existing location is in Richmond, British Columbia.
In Ontario the company is adding 34,000 square feet of warehouse space to its Mississauga distribution center, creating a 114,000-sq.-ft. "distribution campus" that it said will significantly increase Atlas' capability to handle early receipt of winter tire bulk shipments from the tire manufacturers. Atlas moved the 80,000-sq.ft. Mississauga facility in September 2011.
Expanding the facility will further improve the availability of winter tires to clients at the start of the winter selling season, Atlas said.
These two expansions, according to Atlas, increase its national footprint to 156,000 square feet at four locations. The company has also increased inventory capacity to handle more than 170,000 tires plus wheels and accessories. It employs 92 and operates 21 delivery vans and trucks.
The firm is a wholesale delivery partner in Canada for the Bridgestone TireStarz, Continental ContiPlus, Goodyear G3Xpress and Yokohama Advantage associate dealer programs.
