AKRON (July 26, 2013) — Aviation enthusiasts attending the upcoming EAA AirVenture show will get a crack at a contest to win a ride certificate for two on a Goodyear blimp.
EAA AirVenture, billed as the world's largest general aviation show, will run July 29-Aug. 4 at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, Wis.
Contest winners will be eligible for a flight from any one of Goodyear's three blimp operational base locations, learn about Goodyear tires and meet aerobatics champion Mike Goulian, the Akron-based tire maker said. A total of seven blimp ride certificates will be given away—one each day during AirVenture.
"We are excited about participating in this year's AirVenture show," said Glenn Leonardi, general manager aviation, North America, Goodyear. "It's a great way to connect with people who share our passion for aviation, and to provide show attendees with a unique opportunity to win a future ride on the world's most recognizable, lighter-than-air craft through our 'I Wanna Blimp Ride' contest."
Mike Goulian, whom Goodyear described as "one of the most accomplished competitors in aerobatics history, will demonstrate his precision airmanship via a breathtaking display." He is representing the tire maker at air shows during this year's Goodyear Advantage Tour, and will sign autographs at the company's AirVenture booth (#2131) on the following dates: at 11 a.m. CDT Wednesday, July 31, and 11 a.m. CDT on Saturday, Aug. 3.
Goodyear said it has participated in the AirVenture show for decades. During this year's event, Goodyear said aircraft owners will have the opportunity to check out several Goodyear aviation tires at the company's booth.
