Love's offering DEF at all locations

OKLAHOMA CITY (July 17, 2013) — Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores has begun offering diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) at its pumps.

The truck stop operator began installing DEF at the pump on diesel islands in 2011 and completed its rollout to all 245 of its travel stops across the country this month.

"With construction at all Love's Travel Stops now complete, our trucking customers have the certainty of knowing they can fill their DEF tanks at every Love's where they fuel," said Jon Archard, the company's director of fuel marketing. "Having DEF at the pump allows Love's customers to not only purchase DEF in a far more cost-effective way than buying jugs, but also gets them back on the road much quicker.

"By purchasing through a billing card or RFID tag at the fuel bay, drivers also get the reporting controls they need to track their DEF purchases more accurately."

Love's claims it is the first retailer to offer the combination of DEF at the pump and RFID technology across its nationwide network.

In a Love's press release, Bret McKinney, senior fuel manager for trucking firm CRST Expedited, said with the company fleet's expedited freight base, "we have to limit the number of stops the truck makes in order to make a delivery on time. In the past, this has been difficult when we had to search for locations that have adequate DEF availability. Knowing that all Love's locations have DEF right at the pump is valuable and eliminates a headache for the fleet."

Love's added that its locations also sell DEF in containers.

The family-owned company, founded in 1964 by Tom Love, is based in Oklahoma City and operates more than 300 locations and 175 Love's Truck Tire Care centers in 39 states. Love's said it plans to open 25 new travel stops in 2013.
