PHOENIX (July 9, 2013) — Purcell Tire & Rubber Co.'s commercial tire centers in Phoenix and Potosi, Mo., have become accredited Michelin earthmoving tire repair facilities, and Purcell is pursuing accreditation for centers in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Clearfield, Pa.
Michelin North America Inc. and tire repair materials and accessories supplier Tech International have collaborated to create industry standards with a sustainable repair process to ensure the quality and safety of repairing earthmover tires.
In order to qualify for the accredited program, Purcell said it was required to complete a series of comprehensive audits conducted by Michelin and Tech International.
The Michelin Earthmover Repair Accreditation Program includes training, support, inventory control and traceability for quality products and procedures. In addition, Tech International will provide biannual training for every firm that is approved for the program.
Purcell is considered one of North America's largest OTR tire dealerships and retreaders.
Michelin and Johnstown, Ohio-based Tech launched the Michelin Earthmover Repair Accreditation Program earlier this year.
Bethlehem, Pa.-based Service Tire Truck Centers was the first company to receive the accreditation.
