DIAMOND BAR, Calif. (July 3, 2013) — The U.S. Senate, at the request of the Specialty Equipment Market Association Action Network, has designated July 12 "Collector Car Appreciation Day."
This year's event is the fourth annual commemoration to celebrate and raise awareness of the vital role automotive restoration and collection plays in American society, SAN said.
To draw attention to the event, SAN invited Courtney Hansen, host of Spike TV's "Powerblock" and other television programs, to film a public service announcement. Ms. Hansen, a self-described "gearhead," appears with her own 1957 Ford Thunderbird convertible in the PSA.
Diamond Bar-based SEMA annually promotes to its membership the event, which features nationwide gatherings of car collectors.
A list of event scheduled around the country is at SAN's website and its Facebook page. The list includes events in 40 states, three Canadian provinces and in New South Wales, Australia.
